Mabel Louise Alexander
Mabel Louise Alexander, 94, of Boise, Idaho, died peacefully surrounded by family, Sunday, April 20, 2008, at a local hospital.
Mabel was born on Feb. 13, 1914 in Peoria, Illinois. She had lived in Chicago, San Francisco and settled in Boise in 1976.
She lived independently until a stroke four years ago. She then moved into assisted living.
A self taught bookkeeper, Mable worked into her 80's.
A very classy, feisty redhead with many talents, including sewing, knitting, cooking new recipes and a very green thumb with lots of plants.
Mother loved watching the Cubs, Bulls, Lawrence Welk, reading the latest novels, and corresponding with friends and family. She was proudest of her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. A woman of tremendous determination and courage. She never feared any situation. If you didn't have an opinion, she'd give you hers. Preferred a good car horn to using the brakes, and believed she always had the right of way. A favorite phrase was "just never mind." She had a great sense of humor and believed every day was a gift . . . and lived her life accordingly.
She was loved, admired, and respected by everyone who met her.
She is survived by her two daughters, Phyllis (Jay) Suter of Horseshoe Bay, Texas, and Judith (David) Shipman of Boise, Idaho, two sons, Dean (Maryann) Alexander of Bozeman, Montana, and Craig Alexander, eight grand- children; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A memorial "open house" for family and friends will be held from 2 to 5 p.m., Saturday, April 26, 2008, at the home of Brian and Lynn Anderson. Call 322- 0456 for information and directions.
