Died.
MESSICK. - Fell asleep in Jesus, Feb. 23rd, '95, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Davidson, 4 miles south of Fillmore, Mo., Sister Margaret Messick, aged 86 years, 5 months and 29 days.
Sister Messick was born in Kentucky, August 24th, 1808, her maiden name being Kennedy. She was married to Wm. Messick February 8, 1838. In 1832 she joined the Christian church under the preaching of Elder J. T. Johnson, of Kentucky. In 1840 they came to Missouri and settled in Platte county. There she united with the Sugar Creek church. In 1855 they came to Andrew county, taking membership in the Lincoln Creek church (Stone and Fillmore), of which she was a member in full fellowship and high regard when the summons came for her. Sister Messick was left a widow by the death of her husband, in 1878. She was the mother of eight children, three of whom preceeded [sic] her to the land of immortality. Five are left to mourn her loss. The funeral which took place from the Christian church in Fillmore was the largest in attendance we have seen for many years. The funeral was preached by the writer from the passage in Job, 14th chapter and 14th verse: 'If a man die, shall he live again? All the days of my warfare would I wait till my release should come.' (Revised Version.)
