Mrs. Lula Staples, aged 34 years, wife of Bernard Staples, a farmer residing in the Lookout vicinity, fifteen miles northeast of Sedalia, died at 6 o'clock Wednesday evening [May 31, 1916] at the family home, death being due to double pneumonia.
Mrs. Staples was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C.A. Leftwich, and besides her husband and parents is survived by a little son, aged three years. A brother, C.A. Leftwich, Jr., and sister, Mrs. Curtis Kellerman, also survive.
Mrs. Staples was a niece of Judge E. G. Leftwich, of the county court, and of C.W. Leftwich, of this city. She also is survived by a number of cousins, Mrs. David Roberts, Mrs. F. Shaw, Mrs. George Stevens, Mrs. J.M. Greer and Thomas J. Dillard, of this city.
The funeral was held at 3:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon and interment was in the Ellis cemetery.
