In the name of God Amen. I, James Culp Sen'r, of the County of Pettis and State of Missouri being of sound mind and disposing memory do make this my last will and testament in manner and form viz:

My wish and desire is that all my just debts be paid first out of my property that my executor may think best, property to be sold publicly or privately at his discretion.

2nd I give and bequeath unto my beloved nephew George Culp my entire estate to his own use and benefits.

3rd I appoint my beloved nephew George Culp my executor of this my last will and testament. It is my desire that my executor be not ruled to give Security in Court as I have the utmost confidence that he will faithfully execute my will. Given under my hand this twenty third day of April A.D. One thousand eight hundred and fifty seven.

State of Missouri, County of Pettis

Be it remembered that on the 10th day of April 1862 personally appeared before the undersigned Clerk of the Pettis County Court, William C Wells and Samuel Byland the subscribing witnesses to the above will of James M Culp and being by me first duly sworn depose and say that the said James the testator declared in their presence that he had subscribed the same and published the said Will or testament as his last will and he the said Testator was at the time of publishing his said will of sound mind and more than twenty one years of age, and that they the said deponents attested the said will as witnesses thereto by subscribing their names to the same in the presence of the said testator. In witness whereof I Saml A Lowe, Clerk of the Pettis County Court and State of Missouri have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed the seal of said Court at office in the County aforesaid this 10th day of April, 1862.
