    • Burkley -- Mrs. Sophia Alwes Burkley, age 76, passed away at her home in Seymour this morning at 2 o'clock following a three years illness of heart disease.

      Deceased was born in New Albany April 30, 1857. She had been a resident of Seymour for about sixty years. She was married to Wm. A. Burkley, who survives.

      Besides her husband she leaves two sons, Dr. Howard W. Burkley, of Newcastle, Pa.; Willard A. Burkley, of Pittsburg, Pa., six grandchildren, and three sisters, Miss Emma Alwes, of  Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; Misses Bird and Daisy Alwes, of Seymour.  She was a member of the Trinity Methodist church.

      Funeral services will be conducted at the Voss Mortuary Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock in charge of the Rev. Albert Schmidt. Burial in Riverview cemetery.
