    • Britton, Lucille Hope

      Lucille Hope Spangler Williams Britton, (B. J.), Age 91, passed away on February 3, 2013, due to complications of Alzheimer's.  Lucille was born in Burlington Junction, Missouri on March 4, 1921.  She lived in Phoenix in 1948 and 1949 with her family then returned to Missouri but returned to Arizona in 1953.  Eventually her parents, two brothers, one sister and in-laws also moved to the valley.  While raising her family she worked at Porters Western Shirt Factory, World Gifts home sales, and Coppercraft Guild home sales.  In 1960 she went to work for Bashas' as a secretary and retires in 1983.  After retirement she was an artist specializing in painting oils, ceramics and china.  She lived her final years in Mesa at Carriage Manor and the last three years at A & I Adult Care Home in Phoenix.  Her parents, brothers and sister, two husbands and son, Gary Williams, preceded her in death.  She is survived by daughter Carolyn Riley, son Steve Williams, grandchildren Leann Riley, Stevianne Mumma, Sean Williams and James Williams, great grandchildren Patrick Brophy, Katie Kicey and Tyler Mumma and great great granddaughter Penelope Kicey.  Graveside services will be Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at Green Acres Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.  Please visit www.hansenmortuary.com for online condolences.

      Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Spangler of Burlington Junction today announced that their daughter, Lucille, and Donald Helms, son of Mrs. Hildred Helms, also of Burlington Junction, were married May 1 at Savannah.

      Mr. Helms is a graduate of Burlington Junction high school in the class of 1936 and at present is employed at the Townsend retail grocery in this city. Mrs. Helms attended the Burlington Junction  high school.

      Mr. and Mrs. Helms will make their home in Maryville after the first of next week.

      It's not known if this is an error on the part of the newspaper, but they were actually married the day before this article appeared and in the 1940 census Lucille is living with her parents as divorced.
