Rosetta M. Townsend
Mrs. Rosetta Marie Townsend, Savannah, was born June 26, 1921, in Rushville, and died Feb. 22, 1996, in a St. Joseph hospital.
She was the daughter of the late Frank Betts and the former Carrie Elizabeth Boyle Jennings. Mrs. Townsend was married Feb. 25, 1946, in Troy, Kan., to Eugene Leonard Townsend, who preceded her in death Sept. 28, 1987. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Lonnie Betts; a sister, Alice Barrinau, and a half brother, George W. Jennings.
She was a graduate of Central High School and the first class of licensed practical nursing at Hillyard Vocational & Technical School, both of St. Joseph. She had been employed by Shady Lawn Nursing Home in Savannah, and for 18 years with the former Methodist Medical Center in St. Joseph.
Mrs. Townsend had resided her entire life in Rushville, St. Joseph, Rosendale and Savannah. She was of the Methodist faith.
Surviving are a daughter, Catherine Beth Townsend, of the home; a son, John L. Townsend, Platte City; a sister, Agnes Pearl Strunk of Boise, Idaho; two grandsons, and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Feb. 24 in the Breit & Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel, Savannah, with interment in the Savannah Cemetery.
