Smith Cemetery

Fairport, DeKalb County, Missouri
The first burials in this cemetery were two Indian babies who died while their family was camped at the Thomas Smith farm sometime between 1845 and 1850. They were buried near two large trees and the graves marked with rocks for head and foot stones. [Please note that this is not the Smith Cemetery that is said to be the final resting place of the graves from the Poage Cemetery.]
