I am looking for descendants of the Kahrs and the families they married into. It appears that brothers Louis and Cord Kahrs came first from Germany in early 1840,(this date is according to a history of Lake Creek), and settled in the Lake Creek area of southeastern Pettis County, Missouri. Then in December 1840, their parents Peter and Adelheid came, in company with cousins Herman and John Kahrs and their families, and their parents Cord and Margaret. There is an early Pettis County land entries list for Cord, Louis, John and Herman Kahrs, in Township 44, Range 20.Kahrs are listed as early members Holy Cross Lutheran (Benton Co.,Missouri), but then Lake Creek Methodist in Pettis County. I understand a number of Kahrs are buried in the Smithton Cemetery. I would be glad to share info with anyone.Leona

Joe Gentile -- Sun Nov 16 23:12:01 1997
My maternal g-g- grandmother was named Jane KILLMAN. She had an illegitimate daughter arouind 1873, and shortly thereafter married a "J.J. McDonald" as noted in the below 1880 census. Thus, she was known as "Jane McDonald" from the mid-1870's to her death, whenever that was. Her daughter was "Anna Thomas Stout" (1873-1920), married a Henry Kellner, Anna is now buried near Sedalia.
Is the Jane McDonald noted in these two censuses the same person? Any McDonald's in either Morgan or Pettis County familiar with this family??
1880 Morgan County census (Osage township)
McDonald, Joseph age 35
wife, Jane McDonald, age 38
daughter, Ema L. McDonald, age 14
daughter, Anna McDonald, age 7
son, John McDonald, age 4
son, Joseph McDonald, age 3
-------------------------------------------
Further, in the 1910 census (thirty years later than the one above), the following family is noted:
1910 Pettis County census (Sedalia, Missouri)
McDonald, John age 34
Katie McDonald, wife, age 24
daughter, Lelia McDonald, age 7
daughter, Gracie McDonald, age 5
son, Johnnie McDonald, age 4
mother, Jane McDonald, age 84

I am trying to find any information on Mary Josephine Jackson. She was born Feb. 28, 1863 in Sedalia, Missouri. She had a daughter, Georgia, in 1877 in Missouri. In 1879 she was taken by her father to the San Luis Valley in Colorado and there she was married to William Stewart. During her life she hardly ever spoke about her life in Missouri. She never told who her parents were, but she did mention that a brother had been Mayor of Sedalia. On that lead I found a mayor William P. Jackson from 1870-1871. I would appreciate any further information on this family. Thank you.

Searching for information on my great grandparents' families. They were William Marmaduke MAYSE and Elizabeth Rachel (GEORGE) MAYSE. They met in either Pettis or Saline Co. MO and were married on 16 Dec 1888 in Saline Co. She was the child of John GEORGE and Savannah BISHOP GEORGE. William Marmaduke or "Duke" was the son of William George MAYSE and Sallie Ann ANDERSON MAYSE. Duke and Elizabeth or "Lizzie" had two children in Missouri, Lillie Fedonia (b. 1892 in Sweet Springs MO and d.1948 in Medford OK) and Archie Marmaduke (b. 1895 in Sweet Springs MO and d. 1988 in Roseburg OR). The family moved on into Kansas where their three youngest children were born and finally settled in Oklahoma on land they purchased near Medford in 1901.
