Has been practicing medicine at Mound City since June 1866. He was born in Marion County, Indiana December 6, 1837. His grandfather was from the state of Virginia, moved to Kentucky at an early period where Dr. TRACY'S father, James TRACY, was born.

James TRACY moved from Kentucky to Indiana where he married Mary CUSTER who was previously from the same part of Kentucky as her husband. John TRACY was the second of five children by this marriage.

John TRACY lived in Marion County, Indiana to age 17 receiving rudimentary education in the common schools of the county. He moved to Illinois in 1854, becoming a student at the Hedding seminary at Abington to become better educated. He came to Missouri in 1858, locating in Bates County He taught school and studied medicine under Dr. ROCKWELL of West Point, Bates County, Missouri. He resided there for three years. That part of Missouri became de-populated and unsafe due to the progress of the Civil War. In 1861, he went to Colorado and was engaged in speculative enterprises. He started his medical practice in Colorado in 1864 and continued there until 1866, in June of which year he located in Mound City in Holt County

He has been an able physician and has actively pursued better knowledge in his field. He continued his medical education at the Eclectic Medical College at Cincinnati, graduating in the spring of 1873.

On October 5, 1875, he married Mary J. COLLINS, daughter of John COLLINS who settled at Oregon, Holt County, and was one of the early residents of the county. He is not politically active, but holds to the principles of the Democrat party. He has been a member of the Masonic Lodge of Mound City since 1871 and has taken all the degrees of Masonry capable of being conferred in Holt County and is a member of the Keystone Chapter at Oregon.
