Born around 1806 in Virginia or North Carolina, Gibson BURK was the son of Joshua BURK and grandson of Michael or Henry BURK. On Feb 4 1834 Gibson was living in Rushville (Rush Co) IN where he married his second wife, Sarah Ann DeWEESE. Sarah, daughter of John and Lucy (LEVEL) DeWEES, was born Nov 10 1810 in Uniontown (Fayette Co) PA. The BURKs were farmers. By 1842, they had moved from Rushville to Millhousen (Decatur Co) IN. According to Lucy BURK GEORGE's death record stating the length of time she had been a resident of the county, the BURKs moved to Andrew County, MO in 1859. Later some of the BURKs moved to Modina (Mercer Co) MO, where Gibson died of sudden paralysis on Mar 23 1876 and Sarah died Aug 31 1889.
