    • Rites held for J. Burrows

      Graveside services were held on Monday at the Winters Cemetery for John E. Burrows, 56, of Fairfield, with the Rev. William Walsh, of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, officiating.

      Mr. Burrows died in a Fairfield hospital on May 27.  A native of Napa, he had lived in Fairfield many years.  He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Fairfield Post No. 2333, served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and was a retired engineer for the state of California after 15 years of service.

      Survivors include two daughters, Marylnn Burrows of Sacramento, Marian Zavaglie of Honolulu; one son, Harry Burrows of Reno; and two sisters, Margaret Grubbs and Frances Bentley.

      Services were conducted under the direction of Davis Funeral Chapel.  The Fairfield post of the VFW had a part in the service.
