- Youth Killed While Running To Meet Dad
A 15-year-old Vacaville high school student was struck by truck and killed yesterday afternoon as his father watched.
David Morris Onstad, sophomore at Vacaville High School, had been waiting on Midway Road Overcrossing, near Vacaville. for a ride from his father, Morris Onstad. At the moment the father arrived, eastbound, David ran across the road, directly in the path of a westbound Union Oil truck being driven by Eugene Wayne Kliewer, 43, Dixon.
The highway patrol report states that the impact knocked the youth 60 feet through the air. His body was 50 feet from the point of impact. He was taken to Intercommunity Hospital by Vacaville ambulance where he was pronounced dead on arrival by Dr. E. D. Lawrence. He suffered multiple head injuries.
Patrolmen absolved the truck driver of blame in the accident.
[Besides] his father, the boy leaves his stepmother, and sister, Mrs. Jeannie Grubbs, Erie, Pa., Mrs. Julie [Crince], Vacaville; and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George Onstad of Winters. He had lived all his life in Vacaville.

- Vacaville Schoolboy Is Killed
VACAVILLE – A 15-year-old Vacaville High School student was struck and killed by an oil truck Monday while his father looked on in horror, the California Highway Patrol reported.
Dead is David Morris Onstad, son of Mr. and Mrs. Morris Onstad, 301 First St., Vacaville.
The youth was standing on the Midway Road overcrossing at 1-80, about midway between Vacaville and Dixon, waiting for his father to pick him up. When he saw his father's car approaching, the youth darted across the roadway into the path of an oncoming truck, the CHP said.
Driver of the oil truck was Eugene W. Kliever, 43, of 811 West A St., Dixon. The truck is owned by the Union Oil Co.
The Onstad youth was dead arrival at Fairfield Initercommunity Hospital.
A funeral service is pending at McCune Funeral Home.
The traffic death was the 36th of the year in Solano County.

- Last rites held for David Onstad, 15
Funeral services were held Monday in Vacaville for David Morris Onstad. 15, who lost his life September 16 when he darted into the path of a truck on the Midway Road overcrossing.
The Rev. Henry MacFadden of the Vacaville Communitv United Presbyterian Church conducted the rites and interment followed in the Vacaville Elmira Cemetery.
Casket bearers were Fred Price, Art Price. Bill Scheunemann. Mark Camaren, Rod Camaren, Kenny Seranio and David Corin. There were aleo several honorary casket bearers.
The boy is survived by his father and stepmother, Mr. and Mrs. Morris Onstad; two sisters, Jeanie Grubbs, Erie, Pennsylvania and Julie Crince. of Vacaville. Also surviving are the youth's paternal grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. George Onstad of Winters.
