Wanda Thrasher, 97, passed away on Aug. 11, 2026, at Vintage Gardens Assisted Living, in St. Joseph. Wanda was born on Feb. 15, 1929, in Fillmore, Missouri, to Manford and Mollie Praiswater.
She graduated from Fillmore High School and attended Northwest Missouri State University for two years where she met her husband, Keith Thrasher. They were married for 63 years.
Wanda was engaged in farming with her husband for 42 years, eventually moving to St. Joseph, but loved her "big white house on the hill" and always considered it her home.
Wanda was a member of the First Baptist Church in Savannah. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and son, Steven.
Surviving family includes daughter, Pam Hurley; granddaughter, Missy (Ryan) McClurg; great-granddaughters, Rylan (Austin) Dawkins and Maggie (Tayton) Terry; and great-great-grandson, Bridger Dawkins.

There will be no public visitation. A private family service will be held at the Heaton-Bowman-Smith Savannah Chapel with interment to follow at the Fillmore Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be directed to either Mosaic Hospice or United Way of Greater St. Joseph. As published in the St. Joseph News-Press.
