| 1301 | Hall, Geraldine 1933-2025 Savannah, Mo. SAVANNAH, Mo. – Geraldine "Gerry" Fry Hall, Savannah, Missouri, passed away on May 26, 2025, in her home surrounded by her loving family. Gerry was born to Thomas and Camilla (Kirk) Fry on Nov. 20, 1933, in Plattsburg, Missouri. Gerry attended Central Methodist College and the University of Missouri with a master's in social work and achieved Phi Beta Kappa Honors. Gerry was employed by the state of Missouri as a social worker where she touched many lives throughout the years. She married Franklin L. Hall, Bucklin, Missouri, in the Montgomery City Christian Church on July 13, 1956. They were married 61 years when he preceded her in death in 2017. They welcomed two children into their lives, Paula Martin and Tom Hall. Gerry is preceded in death by her husband, Frank Hall; parents; and three sisters, Eve, Edith, and Theo. She is survived by children, Paula Martin and Tom Hall and wife Belinda "Bee"; three grandchildren, Danica (Travis) Steeby, Dirk Martin and Cody Martin; and seven great-grandchildren, Jaiden (Jonathon) Wheat, Cambrielle, Keifer and Chloe (Brayden) Steeby, Darin, Kaitlynn and Shelbi Martin; and great-great- granddaughters, Jasmine and Jacelyn and baby Martinez on the way. Special people in her life included Jo Spriggs, Cody Steeby and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service to be held at the Savannah City Cemetery on Friday, May 30, at 3 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Heaton-Bowman-Smith Savannah Chapel. | 1302 | Harold B. Myers Sr. COSBY, Mo. – Harold Bland Myers Sr., 76, Cosby, formerly of St. Joseph, died Friday, June 26, 1992, at his home. Born in Calloway County, Mo., Mr. Myers resided in Portland, Mo., until moving to St. Joseph in 1963. He had lived in Cosby since 1967. He had worked as a psychiatric aide at the Fulton, Mo., State Hospital for 18 years and the St. Joseph State Hospital for 15 years. Mr. Myers was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Cosby; and Occident Masonic Lodge No. 99, A.F. & A.M., Ilwaco, Wash. Mr. Myers was preceded in death by a daughter, Fern Appleby; three sisters, Ada Myers, Eva Dye and Bertha Hickman; and two brothers, Charlie Myers and Grove Myers. Surviving: his wife, Nadine B. Myers of the home; three sons, Hal Myers Jr. of Cosby, Mo., James R. of Easton, Mo., and Vernon W. Wibberg of Loose Creek, Mo.; two daughters, Phyllis A. Margaret was born on April 23, 1944, in Industrial City, Missouri, to Charles and Helen (Barton) Dye. She was a housewife. Margaret is a member of the First Baptist Church in Wathena, Kansas. She married Robert Hart on June 6, 1962, in Denver, Colorado. He survives of the home. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Duane and Darrell Dye. Mrs. Dye, a native of Union Star, Mo., had resided in St. Joseph before moving to Savannah in 1949. Mrs. Dye was a member of the Hope United Church of Christ, the Gem and Mineral Club, Hiawatha, Kan., the Missouri Valley Gem and Mineral Society. Surviving are her husband, Charles E. Dye; a daughter, Margaret Ann Hart, St. Joseph; two sons, Victor G. Dye, Houston, Texas, and Darrell D. Kansas City, Kan.; her mother, Muriel B. Barton, St. Joseph; a brother, Elmer G. Mrs. Annie Kessler Kelling, 101 years old, widow of Henry Kelling, died at 4:30 o'clock Monday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Taylor, nine miles north of Hurlingen, this county, just across the Andrew County line. Mrs. Kelling had lived in that locality sixty years. She had been married three times, the first time in Germany, and came to this country with her husband, at the age of nineteen. A son by the first marriage, John Zepp, is eighty years old, and lives on a farm a quarter-mile distant from that on which his mother lived. Besides the daughter at whose home she died, there are three sons of the second marriage, Jacob and Daniel Kessler, near Hurlingen, and Frank Kessler, St. Joseph. Her third husband has been dead twenty-five years. The funeral services were conducted at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning in St. Mary's Church, Hurlingen, Rev. W. D. Delaney officiating. | 1312 | Hurst, Gary 1952-2020 MAY 21, 2020 Updated MAY 26, 2020 SAVANNAH, Mo. - Gary Hurst, 68, of Savannah passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2020, at his home in Savannah. He was born in Forest City, Missouri, on Jan. 30, 1952, to Dale and Roberta (Lee) Hurst. He married Sharon Tilson in St. Joseph on Aug. 12, 1972, until her passing on Feb. 17, 2012. He married Virginia F. Stratton on May 17, 2015, and she survives of the home. Gary received his BSBA from MWSC in marketing. He worked for Southwestern Bell over 30 years, retiring in 2004, and at the Savannah School District for five years. He was active in First Baptist Church, Junior Jaycees, a Scout Master for the Boy Scouts, Studebaker Club and Kaiser/Frazer Club. He led and participated in more than 30 church mission trips as an adult counselor for youth, and several adult mission trips. Gary was active in disaster relief, including Joplin tornado and Hurricane Katrina recovery. Gary is survived by: his wife, Ginny Hurst of Savannah; daughter, Heidi Hurst of Chandler, AZ; son, Dustin (Katie) Hurst of Columbia, Missouri; stepdaughter, Mindy (Erik) Kuntz of Savannah; stepsons, Vernon Stratton Jr. of Savannah, and Jeff (Amanda) Stratton of Lone Jack, Missouri; sisters, Kelly (Terry) Hileman of Conway, Missouri, and Cheryl Hurst (Bridgette Henry) of Kansas City, Missouri; grandchildren, Maryam Hurst, Mayy Hurst, Lucas Kuntz and Owen Kuntz; numerous nieces and nephews. | 1313 | In Loving Memory of Brother Jonas Fred Hurst. Who fell alseep in Jesus at his late home In Angleton, August 23d, 1917, at 10:25 a.m. after a lingering illness of two week or more. He was attended by his loving family, who rendered him every attention and assistance possible to make him comfortable and to help relieve his suffering, which was very severe. Brother Hurst was born in Baden, Germany, and moved to America in the year 1842. Was married to Miss Mary Ann Forney, who died in 1867. To that union was born a son, Christian William, who resides at McAllen, Texas. Later Brother Hurst was married to Miss Elizabeth Ann Hershner, on Feb. 14, 1871, at Oregon, Mo. To that union were born seven children, of whom five are living: John Henry, Sarah Elizabeth, Clara May, Andrew Blaine, Clyde F. Brother Hurst became a member of the Apostolic Faith movement in March, 1906, and has since lived a faithful, consecrated life in that faith. He was a bible class teacher for the past eleven years. His life was one of honesty, loyalty and faithfulness, not only to our God, but to his fellow man and to suffering and needy humanity. He carried a smile of cheer and comfort, a word of hope and encouragement to every one it was his privilege to meet. Brother Hurst was a devoted husband and loving father and a loyal friend and neighbor. We all loved him because of the beautiful Christ-like life lie lived and for his kind benevolence to tho poor and needy. – Angleton, Texas, Paper. | 1315 | J. W. REYNOLDS-BIOGRAPHY John Wesley Reynolds was born at Maryville January 15, 1861. He has spent most of his life in or around Amazonia. He was twice married. There are two children from marriage the first marriage, namely, Alva Reynolds of Rushville and Mrs. Ola [sic] Dick of Forbes. The second marriage was entered into September 23, 1907 and to this union eight children were born, one of these has already passed beyond. The other seven are: Franklin Reynolds, Mrs. Geneva Mace, Arlena, Lee, Dale, Edna and Pearl, all of Amazonia. These nine children together with the bereaved widow and seven grandchildren mourn the loss of husband and father. He also leaves one brother, Jesse Reynolds of Oregon, and one sister, Mrs. Laura Llewelyn of Ontario, Calif. During the last winter his health was somewhat failing, but he kept on with work. On Wednesday evening while out driving along the country road in company with his son Franklin he met with an automobile accident which caused his death. | 1316 | James R. Myers 1967-2021 EASTON, Mo. — James Reed "Jim" Myers, 53, Easton, Missouri, passed away Friday, April 16, 2021, at home, surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born Nov. 13, 1967, to Harold and Nadine (Woltz) [sic] Myers in St. Joseph. On May 28, 1988, he married Lori Lutz. They were blessed with two daughters. He was known as a hard worker. At the age of 14, Jim started working at the Avenue City Gas Station. After marriage, he worked at Hill Construction, Sprague Excavating, Collins & Herman, and Kissick Construction. He was a proud member of the Local 101. Jim was a selfless man, always taking care of others first. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending many weekends camping with close friends. Jim was well-known for the special breakfasts he cooked while camping. He could fix anything, even if he had to "MacGyver" a solution. But most of all, he enjoyed time spent with his grandsons. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Myers; granddaughter, Teagan Redman; mother and father-in law, Shirley and Ernie Lutz; brothers-in-law, Ed Payne and Gordon Bledsoe. | 1317 | John L. Bennett 1939-2021 LANSING, Kan. — John Bennett, husband of Helen Bennett, of Lansing, died peacefully at his nursing home on Saturday, April 10, 2021. John was born in 1939, on his parents' farm in Andrew County near King City, Missouri, to Joseph Curtis and Aileen Bennett. He had one brother, Wilton Bennett. In 1959, John and Helen were married at Berlin Baptist Church, Missouri. John grew up on his parents' farm. Both his mother and father were avid readers and they "had a great library at home" and they all read in the evenings. John remembered they didn't get electricity (and a gravel road) until he was nine years old, and a radio when he was 10. From 1949 to 1958, in addition to working his father's farm, John was self-employed managing a flock of 100 sheep and producing 40 acres of corn and oats. This paid for his college education. He also hired himself out to neighbors as a farmhand, at $1 an hour. In 1957, John graduated from King City High School and in 1961, he graduated from the University of Missouri with a degree in Rural Sociology. In 1961, John was commissioned in the Army as a 2nd Lieutenant, his career branch was Field Artillery. John's first assignment was in the 101st Airborne Division at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky. He remembered in 1962, being ready to load up on an airplane with his parachute gear during the Cuban Missile Crisis, but they never got the order to go. John had various assignments at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma, Ft. Bliss, Texas, Korea, Vietnam, Colorado College teaching ROTC, West Germany (Pershing Missile), and Ft. Polk, Louisian. He eventually retired, with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. In 1982, he moved to Lansing, where he had a career as a civil servant working for the Army at Ft. Leavenworth. John never forgot his love of farming. In Lansing, for many years, he maintained two gardens, giving away much of his produce to neighbors and the needy. When not "working", John had many varied interests. Served on the various church committees, Lansing City Council, the Lansing Tree Board, was a member of the Kansas PRIDE Program (an organization for small towns in Kansas to improve the quality of life) and was a principal in organizing Lansing Daze. He was also active in the Boy Scouts of America in Texas, Colorado and Louisiana. He was a member of the Lansing Lions, Pilot Knob HAM Radio group, and the KCBS BBQ Society as a judge and rep. He was also a member of the American Legion, VFW, DAV. He was also a member of the ROMEOs Breakfast Group. John was preceded in death by his brother, Wilton Bennett. He is survived by: his wife, Helen and sons, Craig Bennett (Susan) of Reston, Virginia and David Bennett (Karen) of Huntsville, Alabama; and grandchildren, Nat Bennett and AJ van Tine (Ada), all living in California; as well as many nieces and nephews and grown neighbor kids, that still call him grandpa. He was born April 26, 1925, in Bolckow, Missouri, to William and Flora (Kellogg) Stanton. Keith married Leola Cochrane, February 8, 1947, she preceded him in death January 21, 2017. He was born February 11th, 1947 to Orville and Imo (Todd) Proffit. He married Donna Jean Knierm in Bolckow, MO on June 28th, 1968 and she survives of the home. Sergeant US Army Battery C 3rd Battalion 17th Artillery stationed in Nuremberg Germany in direct support of the Vietnam war 1966– 1968. Honorary flight deck crewmember USS Abraham Lincoln 1990. Master carpenter and homebuilder for 50+ years. Skeeter loved being with his family and cherished his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing, watching football, and NASCAR, as well as daily trips to numerous coffee shops and his occasional stop at Dicks Bait Shop. Survivors include his wife, son, Kent (Sherri) Proffit of Seneca, KS; grandchildren. | 1322 | Last rites held for David Onstad, 15 Funeral services were held Monday in Vacaville for David Morris Onstad. 15, who lost his life September 16 when he darted into the path of a truck on the Midway Road overcrossing. The Rev. Henry MacFadden of the Vacaville Communitv United Presbyterian Church conducted the rites and interment followed in the Vacaville Elmira Cemetery. Casket bearers were Fred Price, Art Price. | 1323 | Leader, Michael S. TIPTON, Ind. - Michael Stephen Leader, 72, of Tipton, Indiana, formerly of Savannah, Missouri, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Sunday, July 19, 2026. Born on Sept. 19, 1953, in San Diego, California, Michael was the son of Morris and Hazel Leader. Michael spent his career as a truck driver before retiring. He was known for his strong work ethic, his stubborn streak, and the sense of humor that stayed with him until the very end. He enjoyed fishing and cherished the time he spent with family. Michael was preceded in death by his father, Morris; his first wife, Debbie Stewart Leader, whom he married in 1974; his brother, Bob Leader; nephew, Chase Leader; and nieces, Shelby Wilson and Haleigh Smith. He was also preceded in death by his in-laws, Bob and Jeannene Stewart. Michael will be remembered for his determination, his unmistakable sense of humor, and the love he had for his family. Though stubborn at times, he never lost his ability to make those around him laugh, even in his final days. His memory will live on in the stories, laughter, and love shared by all who knew him. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. When she was six years of age, the family moved to Newton county, Mo., At an early age, she professed her faith in Christ and became a member of the Mount Olive Baptist Church near Fairview, Mo. She was united in marriage to Thomas B. Pulley in 1879. To this union five children were born, three daughters and two sons. She was preceded in death by her husband who died in 1920; a daughter, Hettie, who died in infancy; and a daughter, Mrs. Perry Ledenham, who died in 1940. Nadine was born on July 30, 1946 to the late Virgil and Avis (Schopfer) Ferguson in Yakama, WA. On May 20, 1972, Nadine married Ronald Edwin Taylor who survives of the home. Nadine went to Thomas A. Edison grade school. She graduated from Central High School in 1964. She worked at Quaker Oats and Missouri AG Statistics for 22 years. Nadine volunteered working Photograph of Andrew Country Tombstones (PACT). Nadine was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents, Mark and Geneva (Coffman) Schopfer and Albert and Lola (Smith) Ferguson. Doing genealogy she came up with 195 deceased grandparents. | 1335 | Nadine Bernice Myers, lovingly known by many names— Mom, Grandma, Granny, Other-Grandma, and Madine— passed away peacefully of natural causes on November 8, 2025, at the age of 95. A devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, Nadine leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and generosity that will continue to guide her family for generations to come. Born on June 13, 1930, in Chamois, Missouri, Nadine grew up with a heart full of faith and an unshakable work ethic. After completing her education through the 10th grade, she worked raising Hereford cattle, farming, working in the fields and enjoyed running a bulldozer with her first husband, Bill Wibberg. Later, she began what would become a 32-year career at the State Hospital. She started as a Psychiatric Aide and eventually moved to the Drug and Alcohol Unit, where she thrived. Through her dedication and compassion, Nadine touched countless lives, caring deeply for those who needed understanding and kindness. In 1964, Nadine met and later married Harold B. Myers, Sr. at the State Hospital in Fulton, MO, where they both worked. They moved to St. Joseph, MO, and both continued working at the State Hospital in St. Joseph until they retired. After moving to St. Joseph with Nadine's three children, they had their own two boys. This led to their decision to move to a small farm in Cosby, MO where they could have horses, cows, pigs, chickens, motorcycles and room to play and where Nadine could have a large garden to help feed her growing family. Nadine embodied the essence of hard work, selflessness, and love. She believed firmly in sharing what she had and doing everything with a sense of pride and purpose. A wonderful cook and devoted gardener, she also found joy in recording every penny she spent— a testament to her thoughtful and meticulous nature. She never missed an opportunity to take a road trip or to watch her grandchildren engage in the activities they loved. Family meant everything to her, and she was truly the matriarch of a very large and close-knit family. A longtime member of Bethel Baptist Church, Nadine's faith guided her throughout her life and inspired those around her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold B. Myers, Sr., her son Jim Myers, her parents, George and Wilhelmina Wolz, her brothers, Herb Wolz and Oscar Wolz, and her sons-in-law Gordon Bledsoe and Raymond "Ed" Payne. He was born September 23, 1940, to Fred and Agnes (Lotz) Cox in St. Joseph. He married Joyce Lilly on January 16, 1959. She preceded him in death on December 13, 1981. He then married Mary Lou Hornecker on February 13, 1988. She survives of the home. Norman was a graduate of Central High School and worked for St. Joseph Light and Power Company as a foreman for 40 plus years. He was also a member of First Christian Church of Savannah, Mo. He loved woodworking, traveling, playing cards and tinkering in his shop. Mr. Cox was also preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Adrian and Larry Cox; and step-daughter, LuAnn Ferguson. | 1337 | Obituary – Phillip Forney. Phillip Seneff Forney was born near Mt. Eaton, Wayne County, Ohio, on the 2nd day of June, 1839, and died on April 13th, 1924, at the age of 84 years, 10 months and 11 days. It was at the early age of 10, in the pioneer days of 1849, that he emigrated with his parents to this county, coming by boat as far as St. Joseph, Mo. The rest of the trip was made by wagon. He was the oldest son of Peter and Barbara Forney, having three brothers and two sisters who had passed on to their reward prior to his death. On January 25th 1866, he was poined [sic] in marriage to Anna Hurst, who, after having lived an exemplary Christian life in the United Brethren Church, died in the faith eight years ago next June. In the course of their long and happy wedded life, three sons and two daughters were born to them. One son and one daughter died in infancy. The three surviving children are Mrs. Ella Kneale, Wm. Forney and E. O. Forney, all living in the community adjoining the old home. There are 11 grandchildren and four great grandchildren, also an uncle, Solomon B. Forney, who is past ninety years of age. A host of other relatives and friends are left to mourn his passing from the scenes of earth, but there is every reason to rejoice because of his entrance into the joys of everlasting life. | 1338 | OBITUARY – There died at the residence of his son-in-law, Mr. Nicholas Wilkins, on Tuesday afternoon of last week Richard Burrow, in the 78th year of his age. Mr. Burrow came to Galt in the year 1845, being employed as a machinist in Messrs. Crombie & Andrews' foundry. He leaves five sons and two daughters – Messrs. R. Burrow and Wm Burrow, Hamilton; J. Burrow, St. Catharines; Elijah Burrow, California; Saul Burrow, Port Colborne; and Mrs. H. Kay and Mrs. N. Wilkins, Galt. | 1339 | OBITUARY. Died -- at his late residence in King City, December 22nd, 1893, Mr. Joseph Carson. Deceased was born in Rockcastle county, Kentucky, December 12th, 1812. He was married to Margaret Montgomery May 3rd, 1838; moved to Missouri in 1842; in 1841 he moved to a farm in Andrew county, where he lived until 1891, when he moved to King City. To Mr. and Mrs. Carson seven children were born, when deatb, on April 11th, 1854, called the wife and mother to the world beyond. On October 14th, 1800, Mr. Carson was married to Mrs. Sophia Mitchell. To this union were born five children. Some ten years ago Mrs. Carson bade adieu to husband and children and passed across the river of Death. "Uncle Joe," as Mr. Carson was familiary called, was a man of exemplary habits, beloved by all and lived a devoted christian life. He had been a member of the Christian church for many years. As life's lamp dimmed, the light of faith and Christ-love seemed to brighten and as earth's cares were laid aside, the spirit rested in the arms of a Savior's love and drank of the joys of the glory world. On December 23rd, the remains were taken to Savannah and funeral services were conducted in the Christian church by Elder Dew, after which, to the silent grave, in the Savannah cemetery consigned all that was mortal of the departed. | Carson, Joseph (I5077)

| 1340 | Obituary. The lamented death of Mrs. Laura Elkins Hiatt occurred last Sunday, February 5th. 1905, at the family homestead near Lockwood. Mrs. Hiatt had been ill several weeks suffering from lagrippe and weakness incident to age. Funeral services were conducted at the home on Monday by Rev. T. N. Tabor, attended by the sorrowing relatives and sympathizing friends and neighbors. The interment was at the Lockwood cemetery Mrs. Hiatt was born in the year 1830 and therefore had reached the age nearly of 75 years. She was Miss Laura Ann Elkins and was married to Mr. J. J. Hiatt in 1848, in Platte County. Mo., whence they came to the present family home in 1867. Mr. Hiatt preceded her to the grave about two years ago. They lived the life of real happiness, that results from prosperity, contentment, health, the presence of their children and many friends. Mrs. Hiatt although not a member of any church, manifested through life the hope, the faith, the character that adorns the true Christian, and her removal from this world will be to a better one where happiness will be complete and eternal. There are five children of Mr. and Mrs. Hiatt living. They are Mrs. J. A. Roseman, Mrs. J. H. Harris, residing in this vicinity and Don W. | 1341 | October 8, 2012 | Siskiyou Daily News (Yreka, CA) Page: 6 Carl H. Warren Sr. 86, of Medford, Ore., formerly of Southern California. Carl Hurd Warren Sr. was promoted to heaven on Oct. 1, 2012 at Rogue Regional Medical Center surrounded by family. Carl was born on March 13, 1926 in Altus, Okla. to Charlie and Ola Warren. Carl and his family endured the Dust Bowl era and eventually moved to Southern California, where he became a Californian for most of his life, until recently moving to Medford for health care reasons. He graduated from Gridley High School in Gridley, Calif. and received an AA degree from Napa Junior College. He enlisted in the Marines in 1944 and was trained as a Carlson Raider. He served on Iwo Jima, being wounded around 5 p.m. on March 3, 1945, his 13th day fighting for his country. Carl married Bertha Lee Beebe in 1946, raising five children, Ken, Carl, Norma, Mike and Greg. When Bertha passed away in 1982, Carl remarried a few years later to Nancy Terrell. When Nancy passed away, Carl remarried Nadine Lankerd who survives him. At times Carl worked three jobs to support his family. In the late 1950s, Carl worked for Aerojet General near Sacramento, Calif., where he managed a procurement group. While there, he developed the CASE (Consolidated Aerospace Supplier Evaluation) system for supplier evaluation, still in use today by the aerospace industry and US government. He worked many years at Lockheed Missiles and Space in Sunnyvale, Calif. He retired from the Small Business Administration in San Francisco, Calif., working as a procurement administrator primarily with the SBA 8A contract program. Carl was a compassionate and loving father, husband, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife Nadine; stepsons Greg Himes and Victor Wagner; sons Ken of Nez Perce, Idaho, Mike and Brenda of West Plains, Mo. and Greg and Cindy of Rogue River, Ore.; daughter Norma and Joe Schettino of Yreka; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first two wives Bertha and Nancy, and his son Carl Jr. Services will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 12, 2012 at Oak Hill Cemetery, 300 Curtner Ave. in San Jose, Calif. | Warren, Carl Hurd Sr. (I1344)

| 1342 | PIONEER FARMER DIES Samuel Balsiger Had Lived in Buchanan County for More Than Half a Century Samuel Balsiger, a resident of Buchanan County for half a century and a well-known farmer, died at his home nine miles northeast of the city early yesterday morning. Heart disease was the cause of death. Mr. Balsiger was born in Switzerland May 23, 1824. He came to the United States in 1850, settling in Ohio. Two years later he removed with his family to Buchanan County. He secured what is now known as the Balsiger farm from the government, cleared the land and made of it one of the best farms in the county. He bought in the farms of his neighbors from time to time until at the time of his death he was the owner of several hundred acres. Mr. Balsiger is survived by eleven children, all of whom are married. There are four sons and seven daughters. With the exception of Miss Louisa Balsiger, who lives in St. Louis, Miss Emma Balsiger, who lives in Horton, Kan., and Miss Mary Balsiger, who lives in Henry County, this state, the children reside in Buchanan County. | Balsiger, Samuel (I16655)

Published November 7, 2025 12:00 am SAVANNAH, Mo. – Donald "Don" Proffit, 75, of Savannah, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2025, at Living Community. Don was born on March 23, 1950, in Fillmore, Missouri, to Orville Proffit and Imo Todd Proffit. He graduated from Fillmore C-1 High School. Don proudly served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam conflict from Dec. 23, 1969, to Feb. 23, 1971, and he received an Honorable discharge. His occupation was a brick mason and he owned his own business Don Proffit Masonry. Don was married to Roxanne Proffit and from this union they had two children Tara and Ryan. Don was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bob Proffit and Skeeter Proffit; and a sister, Betty Natzinger; nephews, Todd and Jamie Proffit; and his beloved chihuahua pretty girl Piper. Surviving his daughter, Tara Horn (Jason); son, Ryan Proffit (Jessica); grandchildren, Olivia Horn, Hayden Horn, Jolie Proffit, Clara Proffit, and Ethan Proffit; his twin sister, Donna Durham (Donnie) and two sisters, Barb Newberg, Linda Catron (Rick); a brother, Herbie Proffit; and numerous step grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Funeral Service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, 2025, at Heaton-Bowman-Smith Savannah Chapel, 307 South 6th Street, Savannah, MO 64485. | 1345 | Pulley, John G. 1958-2025 St. Joseph, Mo. Published December 5, 2025 12:00 am John Grant Pulley, 67 of Savannah, Missouri passed away Wednesday Dec. 3, 2025 in St. Joseph. He was born June 4, 1958 to John Louis "Jack" and Gerturde Lee (Attebery) Pulley. He married Rebecca "Becky" Alice Dick on July 7, 1999 in Savannah, and she survives of the home. John lived in Savannah for most of his life. He did leave when he was 19 to go work in the oil fields of Oklahoma for 15 years. He returned to Savannah and worked for Ideker Inc, retiring after 30 years of service. John enjoyed gardening, mushroom hunting, and fishing. He took immense pride in growing his tomatoes each year. He looked forward to annual trips with his family and grandkids. Survivors include his wife; stepchildren, Tiffany Timmons of Kansas City, Missouri and Anissa Archedekin of Kansas City; brother, Mike (Julie) Pulley of Jamesville, Wisconsin; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. Pulley left Monday evening for Denver to attend the funeral and burial. Ray Pulley lived in Maysville several years ago. His wife is the former Miss Marguerite Williams, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas D. Williams. Besides his wife and father he is survived by one daughter, Gloria, and a sister, Mrs. H. A. | 1348 | RECENT DEATHS. MRS. CYNTHIA A. GRUBBS. Cynthia A. (Johnston) Grubbs was born near Callery Junction, Butler county, Pa., October 26, 1843, and died at Her home in Tionesta, Pa., April 12, 1907, being aged 63 years, five months and seventeen days at the time of her death. She was a daughter of John and Anna Johnston, early settlers of that part of Butler county. Mrs. Grubbs has not enjoyed good health for some months past, but her serious illness was of but a few days' duration, a stroke of paralysis, which affected her entire right side, causing her death at the time mentioned. She was united in marriage to Henry Grubbs, July 3, 1863, and for almost forty-four years they lived most happily together. She was the mother of eleven children, nine of whom with the father survive her and are left to mourn the loss of a loving wife and mother, as follows: Anna Jennetta Moon, of Tionesta; Flora E. Lease, of Kellettville; Clarence J., of Butler, Pa.; John W., of Nebraska; Carrie E. Grubbs, of Marienville; Leroy E of Muzette; Rachel J. Jones, of Newtown; Orra Allen Grubbs, of Nebraska, and Henry E., at home, all of whom were present at the funeral with the exception of one son, Orra Allen Grubbs, who is at present a patient in the hospital at Mercer, Pa. She is also survived by three brothers, Joseph, of Mars, Butler county, Pa., and James and S. C. Johnston, of Tionesta. She was a consistent member of the M. E. church, and at 2 p. m. Tuesday, Rev. | 1350 | Richard "Dick" Pulley Obituary Richard "Dick" Pulley 1932 - 2025 King City, MO: Richard "Dick" Pulley, 93, of King City, MO passed away Friday, September 5, 2025, at Countryside Village in King City, MO. He was born on May 25,1932 near Oak, Missouri, the son of John and Faye (McCartney) Pulley. Richard graduated from high school at Union Star, MO in 1950, and then enrolled at Ranken Tech in St. Louis. Soon after completing his schooling Richard began work as a mechanic at Pettijohn Ford Motor Co. in King City, a career that spanned over 40 years. Richard served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He completed basic training in February 1953, and then deployed to Korea, serving in the 45th Infantry Division,189th Field Artillery Battalion Unit, a chapter in his life that exemplified his sense of duty and courage. After completing his military service Richard continued his career at Pettijohn Ford, and it was there that he first met Arleta Burke. They married on June 24,1956 at the Star Chapel Church. Richard and Arleta celebrated 68 years of marriage, a testimony of the love and commitment they shared. Richard took great joy in and loved spending time with his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Richard put his faith and trust in God at a young age which was evident in his life, and in his involvement and service at the First Christian Church. He served as an elder, Sunday school teacher, helped prepare breakfast and other meals for the men's groups and other events, and often helped with repairs and upkeep at the church. Richard and Arleta also enjoyed many outings with groups from church. They loved traveling and also took numerous trips throughout the US, and trips to London and Switzerland. Richard never really "retired". He used his skill and creativity to repair and overhaul tractors, build a steam engine, furniture, a calliope, barrel train and other toys. Richard also enjoyed serving the King City community in many different capacities, including King City Alderman, serving at the local American Legion, and working on many projects at the Tri-County Museum, and for Living History Day. Richard always looked forward to having coffee with his friends at the Senior Center, and often shared a joke, or a story from years past. He especially enjoyed the brownies, M&Ms, and apple fritters. Richard is survived by three sons, Randall (Janet) Pulley of St. Joseph, MO, John (Chris) Pulley of St. Charles, MO and Dan (Julie) Pulley of Fenton, MO; one daughter, Judy (Kelvin) Hawkins of King City, MO. Richard was also blessed with nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Virginia Spoor of Maryville, MO, brother Owen Pulley of King City, MO, sister-in-law Carole Burke of Colorado Springs, CO, as well as a nephew, nieces and cousins. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Arleta. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 13 at the First Christian Church, King City, MO under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home, King City, MO. Burial with Military Rites will follow in King City Cemetery, King City, MO. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Saturday at the church.
