    Missouri State Penitentiary: 1836 – 1931

Missouri Digital Heritage has launched the Missouri State Penitentiary database! This database is an index of the penitentiary records, and includes mug shots when available, but they weren’t taken as a matter of course until 1928. Unlike the death certificates project, PDFs of the records aren’t available online, but obtaining the records is easy and cheap: a buck and an envelope.

I love the Missouri State Archives!

    Andrew County MOGenWeb Update

It’s been a busy few weeks in the Andrew County MOGenWeb department!

First, though not technically an Andrew County MOGenWeb project, per se, the PACT (Photograph Andrew County Tombstones) Project has a new home. The last few weeks have been spent uploading the tens of thousands of pictures from the project and updating the files and links. Please PLEASE if you find an error or have a problem, let us know! No matter how much you check and verify a huge project like that, old problems will be missed and new mistakes will be made. Besides, that’s one way we know you’re actually using the site.

Monica Schirmer Eshelman has been submitting a lot of stuff from her personal files, including biographies, histories, marriage and divorce records which you can access from the Andrew County MOGenWeb page.

    We are also receiving a lot . . . [Yes! There’s more!]
