George C. Wait, 79 year old retired carpenter, died unexpectedly Friday afternoon.
Mr. Wait, who lived at 2819 South 18th street, was found dead in a neighbor’s yard at 2817 South 18th street.
Dr. M.E. Grimes, coroner, and J.R. Schonemann, city health department representative, attributed the death to natural causes.
The body was found by Patrolman Delbert Boulting and Mr. Walt’s brother-in-law, Clem Estes, after Mr. Estes was unable to get anyone to answer the door at the Wait residence and requested police assistance.
Mr. Wait had lived in St. Joseph since 1924. He was a native of Horton, Kan.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ethel Wait of the home; two stepsons, Lonnie Norris, Bethany, Mo., and Lee Wesley Norris, St. Joseph; two step-daughters, Mrs. Lawanna Miller and Mrs. Bessie M Coon, both of St. Joseph; two daughters, Mrs. Helen Simpson, Highland, Kan., and Mrs. Grace Tones, Wichita, Kan.; nine grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
The body is at Meierhoffer-Fleeman mortuary.
