Mears services
Services for O. C. Mears will be Friday at 2 at the Rupp Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Faucett Cemetery.

Mr. Mears, the father of New-Press market editor Charles Mears, died Wednesday afternoon at a local rest home.

Mr. Mears came to St. Joseph from the Faucett area and resided here most of his life. He was a native of Buchanan County.

He was employed by the Dugdale Packing Co., and the cattle division of the St. Joseph Stock Yards, retiring in 1962. Mr. Mears was a member of the Buerming Cumberland Presbyterian Church, near Faucett.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Mears, who died in 1963.

In addition to his, Mr. Mears is survived by two daughters, Iren Dittemore, St. Joseph, and Mrs. Frank Noel, Shawnee Mission, Kan.; a sister, Pearl Dunivan, Leroy, Kan.; four brothers, Yearby Mears and Tim Mears, both of St. Joseph, Roy Mears, Faucett, and Earl Mears, Kansas City, Kan.; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
