John W. Modrell, eighty-five years old, died yesterday at his home at Garretsburg. He was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County. He is survived by three sons, R.T. Modrell, St. Joseph; A.E. Modrell, Dearborn; and C.L. Modrell, Garretsburg; a daughter, Mrs. Anna Lins, Wichita, Kansas; a half brother, W.M. Riddle and a half sister, Mrs. J.W. Combs, both of Faucett. He was a member of the Ebenezer Methodist Church, and the Masonic Lodge at Saxton. The body is at Fleeman's Mortuary and will be taken to the home today. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 P.M. Sunday at the Ebenezer Church. (Ebenezer Cemetery - Located on Hwy 169 S.E. of Saxton 2 miles on Marion and Agency, MO) John Modrell was one of the original members of the group that started Ebenezer Cemetery.
