Finally! It's not a done deal, but at least it's passed the Senate!
Pennsylvania has had the distinction, for me, of being one of the most frustrating places to research -- ranking right up there with Kansas and Oklahoma. My husband's German ancestors seem to have been quite sneaky to begin with, and Pennsylvania's archaic "privacy" laws haven't helped in the slightest.
Enter SB 361 which will make birth certificates open records after 105 years, and death certificates after 50 years.
Yay!
